AOL Knows How To Get To Cybersquatter
AOL Inc. recently recovered the domain names www.mapquet.com and www.mpquest.com in a cybersquatting action. The panel found that AOL had numerous trademark registrations for the MAPQUEST mark. The panel further found that the two domain names were confusingly similar to AOL's MAPQUEST mark, where they simply contained misspelled versions of the mark. Finally, the panel found that the domain names had been used in bad faith, when they were used to display ads for competitors in the map and travel-related products industry through click-through links. Thus, the panel transferred the domain names to AOL.
